What Prospector is

A workspace for running an investor raise

Prospector is a web application that helps founders and fundraising teams find, research, and contact the right investors for their funding round. It maintains an enriched database of investors (funds and angels), lets you filter them by thesis, stage, sector, and geography, and builds richer profiles using AI and public web sources. From a shortlist you can map warm introduction paths through your network and prepare personalised email outreach.

For the outreach step, Prospector can connect to your own email account (Gmail or Outlook) so it can prepare email drafts in your mailbox and keep your pipeline up to date — see how Prospector uses your email data below. Prospector never sends email on your behalf without you reviewing and sending it yourself.

Why Prospector requests Gmail access

Sending investor outreach is what the app is for

Prospector is a lead-generation and investor-outreach application. Its core job is to help you contact investors — so, with your explicit consent, it connects to your Gmail account to compose and send personalised outreach emails and drafts to those investors and to keep track of their replies. This email functionality is the central purpose of the product, not an add-on.

Concretely, the requested gmail.modify permission is used only to:

• Create outreach email drafts in your mailbox and, with your approval, send them to the investors you choose.
• Detect the resulting sent messages and replies so your outreach pipeline stays up to date.

Prospector does not read email unrelated to your outreach, does not use your data for advertising, does not sell it, and does not use Google for sign-in. You can disconnect your mailbox at any time. See the data-use summary and our Privacy Policy for full detail.

Email integration & data use

How Prospector uses your Google account data

Connecting your Gmail account is optional and is used only to send your investor outreach and manage your deal flow — not to sign you in or create your account (signing in to Prospector is handled separately and does not use this access). When you connect it, Prospector requests access to:

• Create email drafts in your mailbox — the personalised investor outreach you prepare in Prospector is saved as a draft for you to review and send yourself.
• Detect sent messages and replies related to your outreach — so Prospector can mark a message as sent, capture the conversation, and update your pipeline.

Prospector accesses only the messages relevant to your outreach activity. It does not sell your data, does not use it for advertising, and does not share your Google user data with third parties except sub-processors needed to run the service.
